And The Winners Are ...
Awards Winners
The Direct Gardening Association has announced its 2012 Green Thumb Award winners! Chosen by an independent panel of garden writers and editors, only a handful of new plants are the lucky recipients each year.

Why should you care? Time-tested and roundly approved, award-winning plants are typically a good bet for gardeners.

This year, five new varieties received the honors, including three from High Country Gardens: Hesperaloe parviflora 'Brakelights', Delosperma 'Fire Spinner', and the Harvest Booster Perennial Collection.

Touted as the first "truly" red-flowered yucca, 'Brakelights' blooms all summer (Zones 5 to 10). 'Fire Spinner' (pictured) is a show-stopping ice plant (Zone 6) that features evergreen foliage topped with showy tri-colored flowers. The Harvest Booster Perennial Collection helps gardeners attract bees and other pollinators with perennials, which in turn leads to more bountiful crops (Zones 5 to 9).

Give your garden a winning upgrade!
