Recipes: 5 Tasty Make-and-Takes
Whether you're planning a big Labor Day shindig this coming weekend or a casual end-of-summer picnic, serve one or more of these fresh, satisfying sides. Praise and applause to follow!

Guacamole
Zesty guacamole gets a big flavor boost with a single secret ingredient: pineapple. One taste and you'll be wondering why you haven't been making Grilled Pineapple Guacamole (shown) all along.

Corn Salad
You can make the Cilantro Lime Vinaigrette a day ahead, and then toss with Corn Salad with Queso Fresco before leaving for the picnic. The bright summery flavors go well with chicken or fish.

Pasta Salad
BLT Pasta Salad makes a great stand-in for a BLT sandwich. If you can, carry the lettuce separately; then mix it in once you get to the party.

Black Bean Salad
Fresh veggies add delicious crunch to Black Bean Salad with Corn, Red Peppers, Avocado and Lime-Cilantro Vinaigrette. Garnish with the avocado just before serving to keep the fruit from browning.

Potato Salad
Bacon Ranch Potato Salad is packed with flavor, thanks to crispy, thick-cut bacon and a homemade ranch dressing. If you're in a time pinch, substitute a high-quality bottled dressing.
